THE Playroom

Pete finished the playroom back in November. Slacker that I am, I just got around to posting some pictures of the room. I don't know if you can tell from the pictures, but around the lower part of the walls all around the room there are different boards that the girls and their friends can play with. The different walls are: chalkboards, magnetic boards, and white boards. The girls like to play with the magnetic boards and the chalkboards, but Pete and I are too nervous to let the girls play with the white board markers. They don't come out of clothing too easily. We used the extra paint from the girls' rooms and it came out looking like this. We are very please with the results, we need to do a bunch of touch ups but we are pleased nonetheless. We finished the room in the early hours just before Bug's 4th birthday. She was so excited to have her party there.
Well, the room just wasn't complete - so Pete thought, so he added a playhouse for Christmas complete with a slide. The girls love the slide, oops, let me clarify - Bug loves the slide. The first time Roo went down she about flew across the room and hit the opposite wall. Since then, Pete has lowered the slide so it's not so fast, but it still picks up speed. I'm thinking of putting some kind of speed bumps so they don't go so fast. The playhouse has an upstairs where eventually we will put a TV so they can watch movies; and a downstairs with a kitchen. The girls also got a Barbie house for Christmas. There is also an arts and crafts table (mostly a play dough table and coloring table for now). They love it and love to have their friends play in their awesome playhouse. Pete did an excellent job! My additions someday will be to put a long shelf to hold all their books and put up cute curtains and some pictures on the wall.
Pete just put up a temporary wall to block off the rest of the unfinished basement and to keep the heat in just the playroom. I love the room because I put ALL of the toys down there and have even put some in containers so there isn't so many toys that they have access to. Every now and then some toys or dress up dresses make their way upstairs, but they all go back down eventually. It is awesome to have a room to keep all their stuff instead of all over the house. I recommend one to everyone if they have the room.

wow, your play room is so cute. My girls would love it!! Too bad we can't have a playdate. We would love to have a playroom like that. However Adam just lost his job so we are in the job hunt and not even sure if we are going to be able to stay in Arizona. I am sure you know how that goes!! Keep us in your prayers. The girls are getting so big!!!

Looks good! Bet it is nice to have a place that they can go and play and not worry what they are doing or getting into.

Holy cow! What an awesome playroom. That's great that you had the space to do all that. You even had room for a slide. Who needs to go anywhere when you've got everything at home. Great Job!!
